Biopolymers Facility at Harvard Medical School

The Affymetrix core at the Biopolymers Facility
offers a full range of services for Gene Chip processing. Please read
the submission details page carefully
before placing an order.
If you have any additional questions, please
contact our Affymetrix core via email at affymetrix@genome.med.harvard.edu.
Affymetrix services at the Biopolymers Facility
include probe labeling, chip hybridization, chip scanning and data
analysis. All samples are run through a rigorous quality control check
before processing. Orders may be placed online for full or partial
service. Please include any special instructions in the comment field of
our ordering form.
Full Service includes a six-step process to
complete your analysis.

The GeneChip Mapping 10K Array and Assay Set
offer the ability to generate over 10,000 genotypes on a single array
using an innovative assay that eliminates the need for locus-specific
PCR. This assay requires only 250ng of DNA for each sample, and provides
more than 99.6% accuracy on a proven platform.
Our double amplification service is designed for
low yield samples of RNA derived from techniques such as cell sorting
and laser capture. While normal sample labeling requires 10ug (10,000ng)
total RNA, double amplification allows us to start with as little as
100ng total RNA. Concentrations must be no less than 10ng/ul.
All samples are processed using the most current
Affymetrix equipment and standardized protocols to assure high quality,
consistent results. The BPF is equipped with the following:
- One 2100 Bioanalyzer, Agilent
Technologies
- One 8453 UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, Agilent
Technologies
- Three GeneChip 400 Fluidics Stations,
Affymetrix Inc.
- Two GeneChip 320 Hybridization Oven, Affymetrix
Inc.
- One GeneArray Chip Scanners, HP/Affymetrix Inc.
To help our clients analyze the vast amount of
data generated from GeneChip analysis the Biopolymers Facility is
equipped with a number of Bioinformatics software tools. Access to our
computer facility may be reserved in advance through our online sign up
sheet.

| Instructions |
| Step 1. |
Log into the BPF Website http://genome.med.harvard.edu and
go to the "Place Order" section. Click on the "Place Order" link
located within the main Affymetrix Ordering page. |
| Step 2. |
Enter the number of chips and type of services you would
like to order, inlcuding any comments for our technicians. |
| Step 3. |
Enter sample names and corresponding concentrations for
each of the chips requested. Please review your chip order to make
sure the chip and service types are correct before proceding. |
| Step 4. |
Place each sample in a seperate RNase free microtube and
label with the appropriate names given during the ordering process.
Please make sure the labels are clearly marked as not to cause any
delays during your chip processing. |
| Step 5. |
Drop your samples off directly at the Biopolymers Facility
or mail them using the carrier of your choice. Aways ship or deliver
RNA samples on dry ice, we do not take responsability for improperly
packed customer samples. |
